The Sam Pleshette Golf Academy grabs YMG Junior Academy Status

Youngsters keen to try their hand at golf, can now look forward to the very best introduction to the game as The Sam Pleshette Golf Academy has become a YMG Junior Golf Academy.

Young Masters Golf is the first-ever structured educational syllabus designed to not only introduce boys and girls to the game of golf, but also help them develop the skills and knowledge of the game that will keep them interested and motivated long enough for the golf bug to bite.

The SPGA is delighted to become only the second academy on the Costa del Sol to be accredited with YMG Junior Golf Academy status because it means we can now offer children aged 6-16 the fabulous YMG programme, which, alongside coaching the youngsters in how to play the game, also teaches the rules and etiquette through exciting activities, fun challenges and mini-competitions to ensure that the whole golfing experience is about having fun.

Youngsters joining the YMG scheme receive a comprehensive manual (pictured below with European Ryder Cup Captain Ian Woosnam) which puts as much emphasis on the rules and etiquette as it does on playing the game, and there are eight levels to work through, each comprising an 8-week course of one-hour lessons.

The extremely attractive and carefully assembled manual enables youngsters to see what´s in store, week-by-week for each of the 8 levels (Cadets, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Masters 1,2 3 & 4) and each level is marked by a series of fun skills and knowledge challenges which the children complete to move on to the next level.

YMG is not solely designed for junior beginner golfers. If the youngsters have had other coaching in the past, or are at an advanced stage to Cadets, it is possible to accelerate through the levels, subject to an assessment session.

We will be starting our first YMG Cadets course - the first stage of the YMG programme - on Sundays between 11am and 12pm, group numbers are limited to 8 so get in touch soon in order to secure your place. The price will be 130€ which will include the registration fee (which also enables you to register with the YMG website www.ymg-golf.com), personalised manual and course notes, and all balls and equipment hire (if needed) in the lessons.
